 Deborah Aschheim is an artist who lives and works in Pasadena/Los Angeles. She works primarily in the public realm, making sculptures, drawings and installations about memory and place for buildings, parks, hospitals, transportation and social media platforms. Until recently she was the Creative Strategist/Artist in Residence for the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk, using art strategies to engage historically underrepresented communities of voters across LA County, the largest and most diverse electoral district in the US. She has made installations for the Mattress Factory, John Michael Kohler Art Center, Laguna Art Museum, Otis College, San Diego State University, and has done commissioned projects for Santa Monica Fire Department, Rancho Los Amigos National Rehabilitation Center, Sacramento Library, LAPD, A mazon.com. She has had artist residencies at MacDowell, Headlands,McColl Center, Bemis, Roswell, the Memory and Aging Center at UC San Francisco, and is grateful for support from the California Community Foundation, Center for Cultural Innovation, California Humanities, City of Los Angeles, City of Pasadena.
